FAQ

FAQ's about Pet Sitting
1. Are you insured and bonded?
I have gone through a criminal background check and I'm insured and bonded for your safety and peace of mind. Documents can be seen.

2. How do I know if you actually show up and care for my pet as promised?
Feel free to discuss with me the way how you would like to be updated. You may prefer a text or email, whatever makes you most at ease while you're away.

3. Why hire a pet sitter?
- your pet remains in the comfort of their own home, surrounded by familiar things (bed, toys, smells, sounds, etc.)
- your pet stays on their same diet and excercise routine
- your pet receives personalized attention while you are gone
- your pet doesn't have to travel in a car or be in an unfamiliar environment
- I can give your home 'lived-in' look by picking up your newspaper, mail, watering plants, rotating lights, etc.

4. Do I have to meet you before service?
Yes. I provide a free consultation and I would love to meet your pet. You'll need to have working house keys available for me at the time of the meeting so they're prepared to handle first scheduled visit.

5. What happens at the free consultation/get acquainted meeting?
I'll get to meet your pets, go over all of your instructions, tour the areas of your home you want me to access and answer all of your questions. It is important to have fully tested copy of your key available to me.

6. How far in advance do I need to book?
The more notice the better, especially around the holidays and during the summer months. I realize and understand that emergencies happen, so please contact with me and I'll do my best to accommodate you.

7. What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule?
Nothing. I understand that some things might suddenly change so simply just let me know about any changes.

8. What happens if I will be delayed in returning home?
It is very important that you contact me immediately if you will be arriving home late from your trip. Please note there will be a charge for extra visits.

9. What types of animals do you pet sit?
I sit for a wide variety of pets: dogs, cats, birds, hamsters, guinea pigs, fish, ferrets etc.

10. What happens if my pet becomes ill or injured while I am away?
I'll make every effort to contact you and receive your instructions. However, in the case of an emergency, I'll not hesitate to take a pet to the veterinarian. I am not responsible for costs incurred from veterinary visits. Additional time spent transporting the pet and providing extra care is billed to you upon your return.

11. What if there is an emergency in my home, unrelated to my pet?
I will attempt to contact you first so you're aware of the situation. Then you can instruct me with how you want me to proceed. If I don't reach you, I will contact your emergency contact for instruction and/or I'll handle the situation to the best of my ability.

No, I'm not a kennel or boarding facility. I only provide pet sitting services in your home.

14. What happens if the pet food runs out while I am away?
I don't allow any pet in my care to go without food. If we run out of food, cost of the food will be added to your bill.

15. Do you keep client information/key/alarm codes confidential?
Yes, client confidentiality is very important. I don't share client information. Also, all keys are labelled with your pet's name only, so they cannot be traced to your residence if found or stolen.

22. What if my property or pet is damaged while I am away?
Animals are unpredictable and I cannot accept responsibility for related mishaps (bites, furniture damage, spills, pet stains, etc.). In addition, if your pet has access to the outdoors, I am not responsible for injury, disappearance or fines.

23. Can I contact you while we are away? Or will you contact us?

24. What happens if my pet gets out of the yard?
Please make sure that all pets wear identification tags at all times while under my care. You should also make certain that your backyard and gates are secured while you are away. In this unfortunate event, I would attempt to contact you immediately. If I'm unable to reach you, then I'll have your pet's body preserved with your veterinarian until you are reached or you return.
